Barcelona star, Lionel Messi has revealed that he was rooting for Liverpool to beat Real Madrid UEFA Champions League Final.
Messi is currently in Russia with the Argentina national team to compete for the 2018 World Cup tournament.
The 30-year-old told newsmen, “As a Barcelona player, and when we’re not [left] in a competition, I never want our main rival to win. But, first of all, I want to win myself.”
When asked if he watched the game, the five-time Ballon D’Or winner, responded, “Just bits, to be honest. Not because I didn’t want to but because we were in Argentina and the time isn’t the same. I saw the highlights and everything that happened.”
Messi added that what other teams do is of little concern to him.
“I want to win. What the other teams do doesn’t interest me,” he stated.
Recently, Messi warned his team about champions league competitions and vented out his frustration of failing to win the title for the third year.
Barcelona last won the trophy in 2015.
