2 Min Read

American movie actor and producer, Tyler Perry has pledged to cover the funeral expenses of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks who was killed.

Brooks was fatally shot by an Atlanta police officer on Friday after officers responded to a call about a man sleeping in a car at a drive-thru in a Wendy’s restaurant.

During a press conference on Monday, attorney L. Chris Stewart announced that the 50-year-old producer will cover Rayshards’ funeral costs.

Stewart said: “We do want to acknowledge and thank Tyler Perry, who we spoke with and who will be taking care of the funeral for the family,

“It’s support like that and it’s people who are actually in this community, that love the community, that want healing, and [want] families like this to never have to go through something like this. It’s a step forward. We want to thank him for such a generous move.”

An autopsy carried out on the deceased revealed that Rayshard suffered two gunshot wounds to his back and he died of organ injuries and blood loss.

This won’t be Tyler Perry’s first time paying for a funeral, in 2016 he reportedly offered to pay for the funeral of 15-month-old twin girls Ariel Roxanne North and Alaynah Maryanne North who died after being left in a hot car in Carrollton, Georgia.
