Tragedy has struck this morning as a two storey building collapsed in the Surulere area of Lagos.
The building under construction came down in the early hours of the day with many people said to have been trapped under the debris.
As at the time of filing this report, rescue workers were just arriving with just two victims already pulled out of the debris and rushed to the hospital.
Incidents of building collapse has become rampant in the state with the Lagos State government saying it must go tough on developers and property owners who sacrifice quality and erect structures with structural defects.
Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wale Ahmed, said last week that the administration of Babatunde Fashola will ensure strict compliance with building regulations with violators risking jail terms.
Another building had collapsed in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos state with about eight persons found dead.
