Two persons have been confirmed dead during an altercation between okada riders and personnel of the Delta State Task Force on Sunday night.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the development in an X post on Monday.
He explained that the killing led to a violent protest this morning which the police quickly mobilised to contain.
Edafe gave the explanation while reacting to a video of some policemen shooting sporadically in Asaba, the state capital.
It was learnt that the incident occurred at Okpanam Road axis, Midwifery, in Asaba.
Edafe said, “There was a violent protest this morning by Okada riders who had an issue last night with the state task force that led to the death of two persons.
“They mobilised in their numbers this morning, destroying properties and beating people, hence our men were deployed to control the situation before it turned into something else.”
