Two construction workers, Emmanuel Udoh and Mohammed Saidu, who allegedly beat their co-worker to death during a brawl, on Tuesday, appeared before a Lagos High Court Judge, Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya.
The accused persons, whose residential addresses were not given, are standing trial on a one-count charge of murder.
The Prosecutor, Mr K. N. Bamgbose, told the judge that the duo committed the alleged offence on Feb. 5, 2016, at Ijaye Road, Ojokoro in Lagos State.
He said that the accused allegedly caused the death of Mukilah Oluseye by beating him to death with their fists.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
One of the accused, Udoh, pleaded not guilty to the charge while the second accused, Saidu, told the court that he understood only Hausa language.
His plea was however, taken as no interpreter was present in court.
Justice Ogunsanya however, remanded the accused in prison custody.
She said that the plea of the second defendant who did not understand English language would be taken on Feb. 27, when an Hausa interpreter would be available in court.
She however, adjourned the case until May 9 for trial. (NAN)
