Co-founder and Interim Chief Executive Officer of Twitter, Jack Dorsey is now the substantive head of the company, the company announced on Monday.
Dorsey had served as the interim CEO for around three months after the resignation of former substantive head Dick Costolo in July.
Documents show the appointment was confirmed as far back as September 30, after a Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing named him as CEO without the “interim” attached, tech news site, Re/code reported.
Dick Costolo was said to have tendered his resignation from the company’s board on this same date, with no reason given by the company for his departure.
Dorsey is also expected to, aside his job as CEO of Twitter, remain at the helms of Square, a US-based mobile payment platform.
The company had earlier announced that the position of the CEO would be full-time, which appeared to have put paid to any ambition that Dorsey might have nursed.
However, Reuters reports the company’s Lead Independent Director, Peter Currie saying, “We assumed we would only consider a candidate who could make an undivided commitment to be our CEO.
“But over time it became apparent to us that Jack was not just meeting but surpassing the expectations we had of him as interim CEO while also running Square.”
This will be Dorsey’s second stint as CEO of Twitter, having been relieved of the position in 2008.
