The Chairman and Executive Secretary of the Lagos Board of Internal Revenue service, Dr. Babatunde Fowler has debunked spurious allegations carried in an online blog that he has resigned his position.
He clarified the status of his employment via electronic mail with The Herald.
He stated, “Thank you for your mail requesting to confirm if I have left or resigned from my position of Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue, I have not resigned nor left being executive chairman and I will let you know if and when it occurs , thanks for your professional handling of this issue.”
The tax chief, who is a former banker, has been with the Board for over 8 years and has transformed the revenue collection system of Lagos State. Under his leadership the LBIRS has witnessed a dramatic increase in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from an average of N 3.6 Billion per month in January 2006 to an average of over N20.5 Billion per month in 2013. The IGR of Lagos state continues to grow under his stewardship.
