The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has vowed to resume the suspended strike in two weeks if the Federal Government fails to adhere to its own end of the bargain.
Recall that organised labour and a high-powered delegation of the Federal Government reached an agreement to suspend the industrial action after a seven-hour meeting in Abuja.
The strike organised by the TUC, Nigeria Labour Congress (TUC) and affiliate unions, was billed to commence today before it was suspended.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, read the five-page communique which suspended the strike.
Details of the communique were also tweeted by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo SAN.

But reacting to the suspension, TUC President, Comrade Quadri Olaleye said, “We don’t need a notice again to re-convene if there is a need to do that.”

He reminded the Federal Government that the purpose of the strike was to draw its attention to the plight of the suffering workers and poor masses.
Olaleye lauded the Federal Government for engaging organised labour in a bid to avoid the strike, nothing that the situation would not have degenerated to this level if the dialogue had occurred earlier.
