In the impeachment case against the US President Donald Trump, a second whistleblower has come forward, who is alleged to have more direct information regarding the allegations against the president.
Mark Zaid, who is the lawyer to the first whistleblower confirmed this development on his Twitter account. He also disclosed to ABC News that the second Whistleblower told ABC News the second person was also an intelligence official and they had spoken to the inspector general.
His tweet reads:
NEWS UPDATE: I can confirm this report of a second #whistleblower being represented by our legal team. They also made a protected disclosure under the law and cannot be retaliated against. This WBer has first hand knowledge.
Although details of the second whistleblower and his claim are yet to be disclosed, Zaid has said the person has first-hand information of allegations associated with the phone call Mr Trump made with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on 25 July.
President Donald Trump is currently being investigated for impeachment on the account of a whistleblower’s claim which alleged that Trump used “the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the US 2020 election”, by asking Ukraine to investigate his leading rival, Joe Biden, an action which is considered illegal and a possible basis for impeachment.
