US President Donald Trump has entered the history books as the first American president to be impeached twice.
Trump set the record after the House of Representatives impeached him on Wednesday, citing “incitement of insurrection”.
This followed last Wednesday’s invasion of the Capitol Building by his supporters as Congress met to certify the Electoral College votes in the presidential election.
Five people died in connection with the incident, which most Democrats and some Republicans blamed the President for.
The vote to impeach the president sailed through 232 to 197, with 10 Republicans voting against the president.
The article of impeachment is expected to be expeditiously forwarded to the Senate for trial.
