“Troublesome” Man Burnt To Death For Stabbing Another Man

2 Min Read

A man described as “troublesome” by his neighbours has been burnt to death for stabbing another man living in his area, who reportedly died after the stabbing.

Mantau Rati Black, 25, of Ungwan-Rukuba New Road in the Nasarawo area of Jos, Plateau State, was set ablaze until he died after he stabbed another man named Sati Samola.

According to an eyewitness, Black stabbed Samola because he interfered in a fight between him and his younger sister, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.

The eyewitness told NAN that Samola was rushed to a private hospital after the stabbing, but the hospital refused to treat him. He was then rushed to the Plateau Specialist Hospital where he later gave up the ghost.

Youths in the area, incensed by the development, went after Black who was already arrested by some policemen and a few soldiers in the area and forcibly took him away from them.

The angry youths were then said to have put a tyre around Black’s neck and set him ablaze until he died, before going away to bury Samola, the eyewitness said.

The youths were said to have resorted to jungle justice because they were afraid that Black, whom they accused of frequent misbehaviour, would be freed by the police and would return to continue to torment the neighbourhood.

“They, therefore, insisted on `removing’ him from their midst,” the eyewitness stressed.

When contacted by NAN, Mr Emmanuel Abuh, the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations were ongoing.

“I went there (the scene of the incident), yesterday, but could not see the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in charge of the area.

“We shall soon get more facts on the matter and get back to you,” he averred.
