A Nigerian Nurse, captured by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists since January, 2020 has been rescued by troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJNTF).
The task force comprising of troops from Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria revealed in a statement through its spokesperson, Colonel Muhammed Dole that the Nurse was rescued when troops stormed the ISWAP hideout.
He said the Nurse was among other captives who ran for dear life when troops stormed the ISWAP strongholds in Lake Chad.
He also said the Nurse was released in accordance with the mandate of the task force to bring assistance with affected populations.

The Nurse narrated how he took his chances and ran for her life after where she was held by ISWAP fighters was bombarded by MNJTF troops.
“After bombs and rockets from the aircraft landed and everywhere exploded in flames, both terrorists and hostages ran for dear life. I had to take my chance. I am grateful to God that I was able to escape,” he said.
The task force said further that she ran all the way into Niger Republic where she was handed over to security forces in sector 4 of the MNJTF where he was airlifted back into Nigeria after undergoing medical examination.
“This is necessary after spending eight months in the horrific and squalid conditions which he had to endure during the period of his captivity in ISWAP enclave,” the MNJTF said.
