The Governorship electoral petition tribunal sitting in Bayelsa has ordered the deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo to produce the original copy of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate.
The order was issued by the tribunal following a subpoena on the former senator to produce the original exception certificate issued to him by the NYSC in 1998.
The subpoena was issued on the request of Vija Opuama the governorship candidate for the Liberation Movement Party in the November 2019 Bayelsa governorship election.

Mr. Opuama alleged that the deputy governor submitted a forged NYSC exemption certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The deputy governor had initially challenged the subpoena and prayed the court to set it aside.
He however withdrew the motion on Tuesday through his counsel, Chukwuma Machukwu Ume (SAN) who said his client was now ready to attend the sitting of the Tribunal and would no longer challenge the subpoena.
Consequently the chairman of the tribunal ordered Ewhrudjakpo to appear before it.
