Controversial Ogun state-born politician, Senator Buruji Kashamu has had his election to the upper chamber of the National Assembly nullified.
The Justice Ebiowei Tobi-led National and State Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun state nullified the election on Friday.
The tribunal cancelled elections in 8 out of 9 local government areas that make up Ogun East senatorial district under which the senator contested the election.
Furthermore, the tribunal ordered a re-run in 110 polling units in the senatorial district to be conducted within 90 days.
Senator Kashamu, who was some time ago accused by former President Olusegun Obasanjo of being wanted in the United States for drug-related offences, contested and won the election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
