English Premier League kings, Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco for £40 million.
The move has been protracted due to concerns about the players fitness but the parties have now reached an agreement, Wednesday.
Goal.com reports that Chelsea have been cautious to avoid signing a player with any long-term injury concerns, but they are now satisfied that he can complete a medical despite after having had minor surgery on his knee.
The midfielder will be undergoing treatment after his move but Chelsea’s medical staff are hopeful he would get full recovery from the niggling injury.
In addition, the Blues equally had difficulty dealing with a large group of intermediaries who slowed down a deal.
According to reports, Bakayoko’s brother, who was one of the parties involved in the negotiations, publicly celebrated the deal with a post saying “CFC” on Wednesday night.
Rivals, Manchester United were touted to have tabled a bid to lure Bakayoko – similar to how they signed Romelu Lukaku from under Chelsea’s nose – but Goal gathered that there’s no truth in that.
