A source said the incident occurred during a downpour and residents of the neighbourhood made efforts to save the siblings by pulling them out of the rubble, but the efforts were not successful.
“The children were sleeping on the same bed while their mother and their other sibling were downstairs, but the wall of their room collapsed and fell on Faith and Marvellous,” the source stated.
Reacting to the tragedy, the father of the deceased, Mr Joseph Godspower, said he was in Ore town when the rain started and he rushed home in order to evacuate the children from the house due to the flood they often encounter in the area.
But on getting to the house, he met the corpses of his children, adding that the incident devastated him and his wife.
He also said, “I want Nigerians to help; I have lost many things; apart from the death of the children, the only clothes that my wife and I are wearing are the only property we have left; flood has destroyed every other thing.”
