In the early hours of Sunday, a fire outbreak claimed the lives of at least six members of a family at their residence in Kano. The family who stayed around the Hausawa Quarters is said to have consisted of a husband, wife, three children, and an in-law.
While confirming, the incident, Kano state’s Fire Service director, Sagir Madaki, explained that he no one has been able to find out what caused the fire but it must have begun in their sitting room.
Since the house only had a single exit door, which was by the sitting room, they got trapped inside. And by the time the Fires Service officers arrived the scene, the fire had consumed their entire apartment, making it impossible to save any of them.
