A while back the Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello was stoned by people who were then said to be Lokoja youths, but traditional leaders in the area say that this is wrong.
The traditional leaders are saying that it was miscreants and not Lokoja youth who did the stoning, The governor was stoned at a Jumat prayer.
According to the Vanguard, the Walin Lokoja, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Idrisu (rtd), said that the people of Lokoja don’t have such a grouse with the governor especially to the extent of stoning him.
“We have no reason to stone any governor. It is not in our character. We have never stoned any governor.
“It was not Lokoja people that stoned the governor, but miscreants and criminals.”
Also speaking, a former Permanent Secretary in the state, Aliyu Biya, said: “We are celebrating the Eid el-Adha, which was the sacrifice that was done by Prophet Abraham in obedience to God and we are using this opportunity to admonish everybody to be obedient to God and constituted authority.
“We are using the event to also rally support behind the governor as we have been preaching about loyalty and obedience to constituted authority at all levels.”
