Renowned Nigerian fashion entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, recently opened up about a harrowing experience during a surgical procedure, revealing that she faced a life-threatening situation when her lungs collapsed for a prolonged 10-minute duration.

The startling revelation came to light through Lawani’s Instagram page last Friday, where she candidly detailed her health journey. According to her post, the entrepreneur had been grappling with health issues, including a degenerative spine and a cyst, leading her to undergo surgery.

In a video clip shared on her social media, Lawani documented her journey from the pre-surgery phase to the challenges encountered during the procedure. The surgery, she explained, involved the implantation of devices for the C5 and C6 vertebrae on her spine.

Lawani recounted the origins of her health struggles, stating, “While I was pregnant with my daughter @kingtinukeleora, I started having serious neck/back/leg pains. And it got to a point where I would get paralyzed on the left side of my body, and I couldn’t move at all. I was on painkiller injections all through.

The fashion mogul went on to reveal the gravity of her condition, disclosing, “I was later diagnosed with a degenerative spine and a cyst in my brain. Guys, I died for a whole 10 minutes before they were able to bring me back to life.

The traumatic episode took a toll on Lawani’s respiratory system, leading to a collapse of her lungs. Subsequent complications resulted in Oedema, and her journey to recovery involved fixing artificial implants in her spine to regain proper mobility. However, this path was not without challenges, as Lawani found herself on a tracheostomy tube for three months.
