Tottenham have continued their flood of summer recruitment with the signing of midfielder Christian Eriksen from Dutch club Ajax.
The 21-year-old Denmark International has made the move to the Premier League for a fee that is believed to be £11.5m. The player has been with Ajax for the past four years and has been instrumental in the club’s three consecutive league titles.
He has scored 33 goals in 161 appearances for the Dutch club and has made 37 caps for his country.
A statement from Tottenham reads: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Christian Eriksen.
“The attacking midfielder enjoyed great success during his time in Amsterdam, winning three consecutive Dutch league championships between 2011 and 2013.
“He was also named Dutch Football Talent of the Year and Ajax Talent of the Year in 2011. He was also voted Danish Footballer of the Year that same year.”
Eriksen is Spurs’ seventh signing of the summer and third of Friday following the arrivals of Erik Lamela from Roma and VladChiriches from Steaua Bucharest.
Lamela cost a record fee of £30 million and this is the third time the club has broken their transfer record this summer following previous deals with Paulinho and Roberto Soldado.
