Tokyo stocks were higher Tuesday morning, as investor sentiment was bolstered by the U.S. technology shares rising overnight sending the Nasdaq Composite Index to a record high.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 184.57 points, or 0.82 per cent, from Monday to 22,621.84.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 12.36 points, or 0.78 per cent, at 1,591.45.
Transportation equipment, rubber product and warehousing and harbour transportation service issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
