A pure gold replica of Barcelona football star Lionel Messi’s left foot has been unveiled in Tokyo.
Valued at about $5.25 million (about N828m), the golden foot weighs 25 kilograms and measures 25 centimeters in height.
Rodrigo Messi has attended the unveiling ceremony in Japan on behalf of his brother.
“It’s exceptional. You can see each line on the foot. It’s an impressive piece of work.”
The foot was created by Japanese jeweler Ginza Tanaka to commemorate the football player’s achievements.
Masakazu Tanaka is the president of the jewelry company.
“We loved the sound of making the ‘Golden left foot’, and it being gold, it was our goal to make the project of recreating Messi’s left foot a reality.”
The jeweler cast Messi’s foot in Spain at the end of this past year.
The golden foot will go on sale today with an official certification issued by the Leo Messi Foundation, which helps children at risk around the world.
