Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has denounced the destruction of properties and looting that occurred during the nationwide protests on Thursday.
In a post on her social media handle, Makinwa expressed sadness over the actions of individuals who took advantage of the peaceful protests to vandalize and loot properties belonging to fellow Nigerians.
“Destroying properties and stealing from your fellow Nigerians who are passing through the same hardship is not right at all. This is very sad,” she wrote.
Makinwa clarified that her statement did not imply that the protesters were responsible for the crimes, but rather emphasized that the victims of looting were also Nigerians facing similar hardships.
“I did not say the stealing and vandalism was done by protesters… What have they done to deserve this?” she responded to a critic.
