Tinubu’s New Year speech not different from native doctor’s words of hope – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani

Former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has compared President Bola Tinubu’s national broadcast on New Year’s Day to a native doctor’s words of hope that have no timeline for actualisation.

Sani said this in an X post on Monday, hours after the president’s speech.

In his speech, Tinubu appreciated Nigerians for standing by his government as he took some difficult and necessary decisions to save Nigeria from fiscal catastrophe, while promising that rising living costs, high inflation, and underemployment would witness retrogression in 2024.

He highlighted the importance of his international journeys since he assumed office and affirmed that a new national living wage would be implemented.

He further stated that top priority areas in 2024 were security, job creation, investment, environment optimisation, economic stability, Human Capital Development, poverty reduction, and social security.

Tinubu also said that his administration was undertaking power installation projects to strengthen the reliability of Nigeria’s transmission lines and national grid across the country, among others.

Reacting to the speech, Sani said, “The president’s speech is good and encouraging.

“It gives the kind of hope raised by Native Doctors; that you will be delivered from your sickness but no date.”
