Tinubu’s Academic Record Saga: ‘Supreme Court Would Not Be Moved By Public Outrage, Tantrums’ – Omokri

2 Min Read

Reno Omokri, former presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan says the Supreme Court would not be moved by public outrage, opinion, and tantrums as the apex court gears toward hearing a petition brought before it by the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Making his argument in the heat of public debate reawakened by the press briefing held by the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, Omokri argued that the only thing that the court will pay attention to is the position of the law.

“Whether you like it or not, the Supreme Court won’t be moved by public opinion, public outrage, and public tantrums. The only thing that will move them is the position of the law, which in this case are the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and the Electoral Act, 2022,” a tweet by Omokri read.

The Herald recalls that Atiku had earlier on Thursday urged Supreme Court justices to do the right thing warning that Nigeria’s reputation was at stake.

His comments came as he approached the Supreme Court to overturn the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal that upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Omokri, a strong supporter of the Atiku Abubakar presidential bid had long held that President Tinubu attended the Chicago State University. Many have, however, continued to fault Mr Omokri’s decision to defend President Tinubu while Atiku whom he claims to support continues to explore the authenticity of President Tinubu’s certificate as an avenue to unseat the president.
