Restructuring: Tinubu’ll regret leaving Nigeria like he met it – Moghalu

Moghalu

Former presidential candidate, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu has advised President Bola Tinubu to restructure the country.

He said Tinubu must not complete his tenure without ending the “unitary” system being run in Nigeria, saying leaving the country as he met it would cause regret for the President.

Moghalu, who vied for the 2019 presidency under the Young Peoples Party (YPP), spoke via his X handle on Thursday.

According to him, the present system overconcentrates power in the centre and is therefore bound to keep failing.

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recalled that Tinubu advocated real federalism in the past and should initiate a thorough restructuring of the country as he once espoused.

Moghalu said, “President @officialABAT will be missing a historic opportunity if, after having advocated real & deep federalism in the past, he leaves office without initiating a thorough, foundational restructuring of Nigeria.

“No hope of solving our economic/nationhood challenges without this.

“This will call for the “senior” courage beyond subsidy removal. But if he does it & does it well, history will remember him well.

“If he thinks he will simply enjoy unitary power & leave like the others have done, he will regret it. Mark my words. The present arrangement = failure.”
