National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has blasted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 polls, saying the opposition party plans to operate a “container economy” if elected into power.
Tinubu said this while reacting to Friday night’s vice presidential debate held in Abuja and featured APC candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN); PDP candidate, Peter Obi; and three others.
The former Lagos governor spoke at an event to mark Oyo Governor, Abiola Ajimobi’s 69th birthday on Saturday.
He said the debate clearly showed that while the APC was more concerned about ‘developmental economy’, the PDP’s pre-occupation was ‘container economy’.
He noted that Nigerians were fully aware that developmental economy would take Nigeria to a secured next level of economic prosperity, while container economy would return the country to perpetual slavery and poverty.
Tinubu equally declared support for Adebayo Adelabu, the preferred choice of Governor Ajimobi and APC gubernatorial candidate in 2019.
Themaverick Lagos-based politician said he was not perturbed that opposition parties accused him of having a hand in Adelabu’s emergence in Oyo, saying: “If we do indirect primary again, I will still vote for your (Governor Ajimobi) choice of successor, because reforms, re-engineering, reinvigoration of the institutions can only continue beyond us. If the foundation is bad, the house will crumble.”
