Apologise for attack on Tinubu – Arewa youths berate Ngige

A group, Arewa Youths for Peace and Security (AYPS), has charged Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, to apologise to National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The group stated this while reacting to Ngige’s outburst directed at the Chairman of the House of Reps Committee on Finance, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke during a hearing of a House Adhoc Committee on the NSITF.

A video of the encounter trended on social media on Wednesday.

Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in Lagos State, had claimed that the minister violated presidential directive in his suspension of the NSITF board.

An infuriated Ngige reminded the lawmaker that he was on the same level as his mentor in Lagos – Tinubu – and deserved to be respected like him.

In a reaction, President of AYPS, Alhaji Salisu Magaji, described the minister’s action as “clownish and uncivilised”.

He said it proved that “some top government officials of the Buhari administration…obviously exhibit unpreparedness for the nitty-gritty and challenges of governance”.

Magaji noted that the trend was becoming worrisome.

He added that Ngige must immediately apologise to Tinubu for dragging him into his verbal scuffle with Faleke.

Magaji expressed dismay at the present government’s official’s alleged disdain for the former Lagos State Governor since his rumoured presidential ambition which he has publicly denied.

“The body language of this government is that it detest(s) Tinubu becoming the next President of Nigeria and are ready to stop him and the question is what are they afraid of?” Magaji queried.

He said that Tinubu’s presidential ambition would succeed if destined by God and no one would be able to stop his emergence.
