The presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has showered praises on former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his contribution to bringing peace to Ethiopia and Africa.
Tinubu said this in a short statement after a peace treaty was signed between Ethiopia and Tigray, ending two years of devastating conflict in the restive region.
Obasanjo led the African Union diplomatic mission which brokered the peace deal.
Ethiopian Security Forces and Tigray rebel forces have reached a peace deal.

Reacting, Tinubu said the peace deal further attested to the former president’s statesmanship.

“I commend the statesmanship of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as he continues his contribution to the stability of the African continent with a successful diplomatic mission in Ethiopia where he led the mediation of an important peace treaty.
“It is hoped that the process results, ultimately, in the permanent resolution of the conflict and a full commitment to the cause of unity, restoration, and development,” Tinubu said.
