The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has explained why he visited Ogun State today.
The Herald earlier reported that Tinubu visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Penthouse residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
After a three-hour, closed-door meeting with the former president, Tinubu could not address the media because of the mammoth crowd of supporters.
He proceeded to the MKO Abiola International Stadium, where he addressed party chieftains and supporters.
In his address, the septuagenarian said he was not in the state for campaign as the campaign period for the 2023 general election had not started.
He said he was in Ogun state to greet the people and party loyalists.
Tinubu praised Governor Dapo Abiodun’s “good works” and lauded the people for supporting his administration.
“The campaign has not started yet. I am just here to greet you and to say hello to you.
“May God bless Ogun; May God bless Nigeria and May God bless your children,” Tinubu said.
