Joju Muse, who plays Sammie on the hit series, Tinsel recently came out to speak about the violence she suffered at home at the hands of her younger brother.
Revealing why she was beaten up, she had this to say:
“i want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who reached out to me. i have never felt such love before. i’m healing gradually and even though a lot of you my friends-turned-family want to know the reason for such brutal treatment…it was because i told him to do the dishes he left since Friday, and he was to return to school Sunday morning. i’ll stop here. ***may the devil not creep into your homes***
my people i’m juicing this sour Lemon and by Gods grace, something that will bless lives is about to begin. I’m setting up a team against all forms of violence. Violence is in different forms, not just spousal abuse, even between parents and their kids, masters to assistants e.t.c. When i’m properly healed, i’ll give some more insight.
Ok now make i go mop my body with hot water! d trailer wey jam me no be made in china kwanu… hahahahahaha!!!!! If have ever fought with you in my younger days, i’m so damn SORRY once again! lets allow love live in our hearts. And lets be part of d Team against violence.”
The actress also revealed how some people called her out for sharing her story, telling her she should have resolved it as a family affair and not a public affair.
Here’s what she said below:
“Some people aren’t thinking right sha…. you got beaten and you posted pics online, brothers and sisters fight. bla bla bla… it’s a family issue not a social media thing, you are blowing tins out of proportion!!! oh really? i don’t see it that way i’m sorry. its because of dumb silences we have so many manics roaming the streets causing harm to other peoples kids. Violence starts in a day but the way you handle it determines if it stops. if i had died, it would have been a different story circulating based on family coding and someone else’s daughter becomes the next victim. This is my own way of discipline, disgrace him openly and let him know it’s unacceptable. At least i didn’t get him arrested and i didn’t give up his identity and detailed info on what led to the brutal attack cos its all based on parental favoritism and religious fanaticism. If disgracing myself and my family by speaking out against this will make my brother a better man and save a life in future and also create awareness against sibling abuse which has led to grievous regrettable circumstances in most homes, then i’m not sorry. I love my life and mi o le wa ku because some messed up people think it’s washing dirty linen in public. He is just 19yrs old and supposed to protect me. What will now happen if an outsider does this to me? no sentiments! I forgive him. But we all need to kick against sibling abuse cause it leads to what we know as spousal abuse A.K.A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE”
