Tin Can Island 2 Customs Command records N3.18b in four months

2 Min Read

The Tin-Can Island 2 Customs Command, Ijora, on Sunday said it generated the sum of N3.18billion between January and April 2017.

The command, in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Godwin Andishu, said the revenue exceeded the N2.6billion target for the period.

The spokesman said that the figure was also N1.5billion or 119per cent better than the N1.6billion recorded by the command in the corresponding period in 2016.

He described the revenue figure as `very impressive` in view of the general low import activities at the ports.

Giving a breakdown, he said N834.67million was generated in January, N919.68million in February and N649.11million in March.

He added that the command generated N781.18million in April.

Andishu attributed the feat to the various reforms being implemented by the Area Controller, Alhaji Abdulkadir Dalhatu, since he assumed leadership of the command.

He said the reforms include training and retraining of officers, provision of ICT facilities at the command and constant engagement of stakeholders on how the command can serve them better.

The spokesman said the Controller was also taking steps to block revenue leakages

Andishu said the re-designation of the command as Tin Can Island II from the old Lilypond had also helped to build a new image for the command, thereby improving its revenue profile.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the command had announce d that it generated N8.1billion as the total revenue for 2016. (NAN)
