Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo, has shared the story of how he became a professional musician. In a recent episode of the ‘On The Record’ podcast, Dakolo revealed that music was initially just a hobby for him.
According to Dakolo, his love for music started in the choir and later evolved into writing songs to impress girls. However, it wasn’t until he won the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007 that he decided to pursue music as a career.
“I still see myself as an accidental musician,” Dakolo said. “Music was not something I thought I would do professionally. It was after Idols that I decided to do music professionally.”
