China’s eastern Zhejiang has been ploughed by a landslide leaving 27 people missing. Heavy typhoon rains caused the landslide to crash into Sucun village on Wednesday according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
A mass of debris rolled down a mountain towards the small village.
Earlier on Wednesday, China shut schools and cancelled flights as Typhoon Megi made a landfall in Fijian on Wednesday.
Chinese Authorities have issued their third highest severe warning in anticipation of the storm according to The Guardian UK.
Typhoons are common at this time of the year, picking up as they cross warm Pacific waters and bring raging wind and rain as they reach land.
