The Federal Government’s peace talk plan with the Niger Delta militants has taken new turn as three militant groups in the area have indicated interest in FG’s idea.
The three militant groups include the Reformed Egbesu Boys of the Niger Delta, Egbesu Red Water Lions and Egbesu Mightier Fraternity.
The three groups have against their earlier decision agreed to allow the Niger Delta Dialogue and Contact Group, NDDCG, under the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Alfred Diette-Spiff to represent them in the ongoing dialogue with the Federal Government.
The foremost militant group in the region, the Niger Delta Avengers is however yet to indicate interest or join in the dialogue.
The militant groups confirmed this in an electronic message which reads: “We wish to state that the leadership of the Reformed Egbesu Boys of the Niger Delta, including the Egbesu Red Water Lions and the Egbesu Mightier Fraternity have been duly consulted and our mandate secured for the negotiation by the Diette- Spiff- led committee”.
