This Is One Of The Greatest Sins A Christian Can Commit – Pope

2 Min Read
Pope Francis1

Pope Francis has in a sermon delivered at the Vatican City of Rome warned Christians against the sin of greed noting that the sin places Christians on a lower spiritual pedestal compared to unbelievers.

The Pope in his sermon pointed out that greedy Christians bring a bad name to the religion and Church adding that greedy individuals are better off outside the church.

Pope Francis who noted that it is better to be an atheist than to be a Greedy Christian further accused Christians who are caught up in scandals to be responsible for pushing unbelievers away from the fold.

He said while describing the scenario of a wealthy Christian involved in a dirty business but knocking on heaven’s gate: “Here I am, Lord! I went to Church, I was close to you, I belong to this association, I did this. Don’t you remember all the offerings I made?”

According to the Pope, Jesus may reply: “Yes, I remember. The offerings, I remember them: All dirty. All stolen from the poor. I don’t know you.’ That will be Jesus’ response to these scandalous people who live a double life.”

The pope further encouraged Christians saying: “To be a Christian means to do the will of God and on the last day because all of us we will have one that day what shall the Lord ask us? Will He say: ‘What you have said about me?’ No. He shall ask us about the things we did.”
