‘They’re A**holes’- Klopp Fumes over DeBruyne Claim

3 Min Read

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is of the opinion that anyone who believes that the injury to Kevin DeBruyne levels the playing field is an ‘A**hole’

The Belgian playmaker is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury in training and there have been some suggestions that this will impact Manchester City’s title defense significantly.

Klopp doesn’t think so and is upset that anyone can look at it as a positive.

The Liverpool manager spoke to Sky Sports and he said that he wished the Belgium player a speedy recovery.

He said: “I think somebody who thinks like that, about a situation like that, is an a**hole, to be honest. I am not like that. First of all, I wish him the absolute very best.

“I love this player, I wanted him desperately when I was at Dortmund and he was at Chelsea, but Jose didn’t give him to me!

Klopp added: “What a season he had, what a World Cup he played. I really feel for him. They have options of course, like they always have options, they brought in Riyad Mahrez, but they can all play in different positions.

“Bernardo Silva can play a bit deeper, [Phil] Foden can play in positions, [Ilkay] Gundogan can play in positions.

“Nobody needs to worry about Man City and their quality, there is still a lot there. We don’t look at the other teams, we really only try to make the best of our situation, and that will hopefully work.”

Manchester City defeated Chelsea in the community shield and Arsenal in the first game of the season largely without DeBruyne who only came on as a second half substitute in the Arsenal game, therefore, it is quite fanciful for there to be claims that KDB’s absence makes it difficult for Manchester City to retain their Premier League title.

Liverpool’s next game is against Crystal Palace after making a winning start to the Premier League with a 4-0 win over West Ham United.
