There’ll Be No More Attacks In Delta State – Gov Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured the people that there will no longer be attacks in the state and that peace will be restored to the state, The Herald reports.

He gave this assurance while speaking with State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.

He noted that the unfortunate killings of military personnel had further exacerbated the feud between the two warring communities.

Recall that 16 soldiers had been killed while responding to a distress call to bring peace to a communal clash between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori further stated that no innocent citizens will suffer from the outcome of the March 14 killing of soldiers, adding that those responsible will be brought to book.

“Since last year, we have been enjoying peace in Delta State, and we commend all security agencies.

“Mr. President assured me that he is in support of the peace, and we both condemned the killing of the officers and the soldiers who were on a peace mission.

“What is happening now is something that we didn’t bargain for. But we want to assure everybody that there will be no more attacks on the villages if there is any that has happened in the past,” he stated.

He added that his administration will see to it that succour is found for the families of the slain soldiers and a befitting burial is given to them.

He maintained that a meeting between the state government and traditional leaders would be held next week to find a quick resolution to the issue on the ground.
