There are fresh plans to kill El-Zakzaky – Shiites cry out

2 Min Read

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) have alleged that a fresh plot has been hatched by the Federal Government to eliminate the group’s leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

According to the group popularly known as Shiites, government agents plan to kill El-Zakzaky under the guise that he was attacked while being moved to a new location.

One of the group’s leaders, Abdullahi Musa, made this known on Tuesday, The Guardian reported.

“We received information that the life of El – Zakzaky is in danger , because there are plans by the government to kill him , under the excuse that he was attacked while being moved to a new location,” Musa was quoted as saying.

The group hailed Last Tuesday’s sack of immediate-past Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

The group alleged that Daura’s DSS deliberately frustrated all efforts to get El-Zakzaky proper medical attention despite knowing of his health challenges.

“ Last month , the Sheikh was suffering from toothache , but Daura did not allow his doctor to see and treat him .

“Even his family and followers are not allowed to visit , or make phone calls to him and his wife .
Each time we made a request for his doctor to see him , we were told that Daura did not allow it,” Musa said.

The group maintained that El-Zakzaky remains in grave danger in custody of the DSS.

It said it had petitioned the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as part of efforts to protect his life and rights.
