President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political crisis rocking Ondo State may have been well-intentioned but he made a mistake while at it, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Dr. Kayode Ajulo, has said.
Ajulo made this known as a guest on Arise TV on Monday.
On November 25, Tinubu invited the gladiators in Ondo State to a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as a way of dousing the political fire ravaging the state.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and members of Governor Rotimi Akwredolu’s cabinet.
Also in attedance were the leadership of the state House of Assembly and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, Ajulo said that the president made a mistake by not carrying the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, along.
“I say this with the fact that President Bola Tinubu today happens to have one of the best lawyers as the Attorney General, as a chief law officer that should advise him.
“This is someone I have high regard for. I am very sure and I want to believe he is not being carried along to advise him properly,” the senior lawyer said.
Ajulo added, “The president has made a mistake. The president should have allowed the constitutional provisions to take its course. Ondo State people are sophisticated. The right thing needs to be done.”
