Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, a popular Nigerian singer, has opened up about the persistent fear that has gripped him and his family since the recent intrusion into his residence by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a previous incident, Skales had called out the EFCC for an unauthorized entry into his house, wrongly accusing him of fraudulent activities. In the latest episode of the Terms & Conditions podcast, Skales revealed that his life and that of his family have been marked by a continuous sense of insecurity following his public criticism of the anti-graft agency.
Skales mentioned that he has been receiving threats since speaking out against the EFCC and expressed concerns about his personal safety. Despite the fear, the singer continues to move about freely, asserting his innocence in the matter.
He stated, “The EFCC operatives that invaded my house didn’t have a search warrant. Obviously, they were illegal. My problem with the EFCC guys is not even the fact that they are not doing what they were paid for. They are now using the power to oppress people. They are oppressing me right now. I am scared for my life, I won’t lie to you. I’m scared but at the same time, I know I’m clean, that’s why I’m moving around.”
Skales also disclosed that one of his artists, who was apprehended during the EFCC’s raid, remains in custody.
