The devil in APC has been exorcised – Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode says the devil in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been “exorcised”.

This is just as the APC chieftain said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has turned itself into a sectional party by choosing a presidential candidate from the north.

He said that only a sectional party would have its presidential candidate, national chairman, and Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman from one section of the country.

Fani-Kayode, who is an APC chieftain, spoke on Wednesday as a guest on Channels TV programme, ‘Politics Today’.

Fani-Kayode, while tackling PDP chieftain, Chief Olabode George, agreed with the opposition politician’s comment that there was a devil within the PDP ranks.

The host, Seun Okin, reminded Fani-Kayode that while still a chieftain of the PDP, he said the same thing about the APC.

“So, the devil left the APC?” Okin asked pointedly.

Responding, Fani-Kayode said, “The devil has been exorcised and I’ll tell you why.

“They insisted on a power shift, even in a situation where some of us were supporting northern candidates.

“They said no, we will give power to the south, we will let power shift in the name of equity, decency and all that is good.”

The ex-minister decried the PDP’s treatment of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who emerged second in the presidential primaries of the party.

Recall that Wike was passed over for the vice presidential ticket, a move some commentators said was responsible for the crisis currently rocking the party.

Fani-Kayode, who is a former PDP chairman, said he left the party because he noticed that a “devil had crept into their ranks”.

“They (PDP) have imploded. They are a party which has violated its own constitution by insisting on providing a northern presidential candidate. And despite having a northern presidential candidate and a key leading figure from the south would have won it but they messed him up at the party convention shamelessly, ensured that they northern candidate came in, and basically cheating him (Wike) out of that opportunity.

“Now they have the effrontery to say that the national chairmanship of the party should remain in the north. What type of party is that?

“It is a sectional party – a presidential candidate from the north, national chairman from the north, board of trustees chairman from the north, and the two appointments they have made so far, the two spokesmen from the presidential campaign, are from the north,” the
