The Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terror group has abducted Mohammed Abba, the Head of Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in Bambula community in Chibok LGA of Borno State.
According to TheCable, the terror group abducted Abba and some of his comrades after attacking the community at 4:ooam on Wednesday. The others abducted alongside the JTF head have not been identified.
He was said to be targeted for refusing to dance to the terror group’s tunes.
“The sporadic gunshots woke us, and everybody started running to safety.
“The insurgents came in through Ajigum Talala, a part of the forest where ISWAP has a strong unit. They headed straight to Abba’s home and took him. They have been warning him before but Abba refused to cooperate with them.
“They abducted many others who could not run. They also burnt down some property, including a vehicle belonging to the community head,” the online newspaper quoted an unnamed community member as saying.
Although military authorities have yet to confirm the news of the JTF boss’s abduction, soldiers have reportedly moved to the community to calm the situation.
The Herald recalls that insurgents attacked Korongilum community in Chibok last week, razing many homes and other property.
