The government of Zamfara State has disclosed that about 160 people lost their lives to terrorist attacks as 10 married women from various villages were abducted in the state over the last 90 days.
Governor Abdulazez Yari of Zamfara State said this in Gusau while addressing members of the state House of Assembly on security situation in the state.
Yari revealed that the hooligans to terrorized the villages and stole over 6,000 cows and 4,000 sheep within the period causing disaffection between residents of the affected villages and the state government.
After claims of having committed a lot of its scarce resources on security issues, the governor urged the Federal Government to increase the deployment of security personnel to the state to further protect lives and property of the people.
Meanwhile, after the gruesome attack which left over 40 students in a dormitory in Yobe Sate dead, the federal government has begun are take measures to improve security around schools premises.
This includes enhancing patrols and putting armed soldiers outside them and guarding school buses.
A Government sources revealed said President Goodluck Jonathan has met senior security aides shortly after the attacks to deliberate on measure to respond to the latest deadly forms of attacks by the terrorists.
