The long-awaited judgement day is here. There is tension, anxiety and anticipation as the supreme court is set to deliver a verdict which will determine whether President Tinubu stays in power or not.
The Herald recalls that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi filled a petition to nullify President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.
The Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) had in September dismissed their petitions against Tinubu.
Displeased, the two major opposition parties and their candidates, Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi (LP), approached the Supreme Court seeking to overturn Tinubu’s victory.
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court’s Director of Information, Dr Festus Akande announced today, Thursday will be been fixed for judgment on the appeals brought by Atiku and Peter Obi.”
Reacting to the announcement, each of the three parties expressed optimism that the verdict would go their way.
