Tension As A'Court Delivers Judgment On Adamawa Governorship Appeal Today

Judgment in the Adamawa State Governorship legal battle between the All Progressives Congress (APC) the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and their governorship candidates reserved since December 5 by the Court of Appeal in Abuja is now for delivery, today, December 18.

At stake is the governorship of Adamawa, currently held by incumbent Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP, whose victory is being contested by Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani of the APC.

The Court of Appeal reserved its judgment on December 5 after hearing arguments from both sides. Binani, represented by former Attorney General Akin Olujimi, SAN, challenged the Adamawa State Governorship Electoral Petitions Tribunal’s decision to uphold Fintiri’s election. She alleged non-compliance with the electoral act and sought the nullification of the poll.

Fintiri’s legal team, along with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP, countered her arguments, urging the court to dismiss the appeal for lack of merit.
