A landlord, Abubakar Idris, on Monday dragged his tenant, Bala Maikifi, to a Sharia Court ll at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over failure to pay up the N14,000 balance on his house rent.
The complainant told the court that Maikifi was owing him N14, 000 balance of the initial N23, 000 house rent they both agreed.
Idris explained that Maikifi had paid N9, 000 in bits but refused to pay up the remaining balance, and prayed the court to assist him to collect the money.
The defendant who agreed that he actually owed the balance of the house rent, however, disagreed with the amount, saying he knows of only N8, 000.
He said that he had paid N12, 000 to the landlord’s friend, Alhaji Shuaibu, who is the caretaker of the house.
The judge, Malam Musa Sa’ad, after listening to both parties, ordered that the two parties should present Alhaji Shuaibu in court on the next adjourned date.
He, therefore, adjourned the case until May 28, for further hearing. (NAN)
