A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has challenged the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, quit praying for Nigeria and start telling corrupt politicians and election riggers the truth.
Effiong said this in a tweet on Monday while reacting to a new song released by Adeboye titled, “There shall be a new Nigeria”.
“We shall see a new Nigeria,
“With righteousness permeating;
“God’s fear will rule all our leaders,
“Always God’s will shall prevail,” verse 5 of the song reads.
Reacting, Effiong said that no nation has ever prospered through prayers.
According to him, Adeboye should emulate prophets of old by telling truth to power rather than praying for the country.
“No nation has ever prospered on account of prayers. You’ve been praying for Nigeria over the years, what positive impact have we seen? Instead of telling corrupt politicians and election riggers the truth like prophets of old, you legitimize their fraud with the toga of religion,” the lawyer tweeted.
