Telecom Coy reduces roaming charges

2 Min Read

The Managing Director of Smile Communications Nigeria Ltd, Mr Godfrey Efeurhobo, on Wednesday said that the company had reduced the cost of roaming charges for its customers.

Efeurhobo made the disclosure at a news conference in Lagos, while introducing the company’s product, ‘Smile Voice’.

He said that the unveiling of `Smile Voice bundle’ was geared toward encouraging and enhancing communications to loved ones, while a person was away in another country.

According to him, the Smile Voice bundle is meant for local and international calls at a cheaper call rate of eight kobo per second.

“The Smile Voice bundle offers a super clear voice call; for local and international calls; Video and Short Messaging Service (SMS), over our 4Generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.

“No more roaming bill shock. There is no daily rental and no hidden charges attached.

`’You get the Smile Voice bundle plan for only N1,000 and pay only eight kobo per second for calls to all networks, of which 200 minutes of calls are included,’’ the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes him as saying.

Efeurhobo said that with the introduction of the Smile Voice plan, the company was no longer Internet Service Provider (ISP), but a full-fledged telecommunications company.

He added that the objective of Smile Communications was to take broadband to rural cities, promising that the company would fast-track such objective.

According to him, the company is trying to enrich its value proposition, through the introduction of the voice call bundle.

“We identify with our customers’ frown and put smile on their faces in those areas.

“Very soon, we will introduce a reduced and cheaper data bundle cost, that no operator in the telecommunications market in Nigeria can match. It will be value for money, ‘’ he said.

NAN reports that Smile Communications is presently in eight cities, namely Lagos, Abuja, Benin, Kaduna, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Asaba and Onitsha. (NAN)
