A 58-year-old Uber driver, Abdoulie Jagne, was earlier this week accused of raping his 16-year-old passenger in the US state of Georgia.
The victim was out drinking with friends at a bar when one of her friends booked an Uber ride for her as she was intoxicated.
The police found the victim with her panties pulled down to her ankle and she was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The suspect had reportedly dropped her off by an apartment complex nearby after committing the crime, where she sourced for help by knocking on several doors.
Jagne was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail and according to the authorities he could be facing more charges.
An Uber official said in a statement, “What’s reported here is horrifying beyond words. Our thoughts are with the rider and her family during this time. This driver has been permanently removed from the app.”
Jagne has only worked for the Uber company for a few months.
